Salma Hayek among Crystal+Lucy honorees

Salma Hayek, Ginnifer Goodwin, Sherry Lansing, Diane English and the cast of English’s upcoming film “The Women” will be honored at the 2008 Crystal+Lucy Awards, set for June 17 at the Beverly Hilton.

The annual dinner marks the 35th anniversary of Women in Film and supports WIF, Los Angeles (headed by president Jane Fleming) and its educational and philanthropic programs.

Set to receive the Crystal Award for excellence in film is English and the cast of “Women,” her remake of the 1939 classic. The creator, writer and exec producer of CBS’ “Murphy Brown,” English has spent 13 years nurturing a new version of the Clare Boothe Luce play, lining up an all-female cast that includes Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, Debra Messing, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Cloris Leachman, Bette Midler and Candice Bergen. Picturehouse will release “The Women” on Oct. 10.

The 2008 Lucy Award for excellence in television, named in honor of Lucille Ball, will be presented to Hayek, the actress/director/producer who serves as exec producer of ABC’s “Ugly Betty.”

Hayek earned a Daytime Emmy for her directorial debut, “The Maldonado Miracle,” starring Peter Fonda, Mare Winningham and Ruben Blades, which aired on Showtime.

An Oscar nominee as best actress for “Frida,” she’ll be seen in the upcoming films “Beverly Hills Chihuahua” and “Cirque du Freak.”

With her new company Ventanazul, Hayek and producing partner Jose Tamez have been tapped by MGM to develop, produce and acquire mainstream films that draw on Latin themes or feature Latin talent before and behind the camera.

Goodwin, who plays the youngest of Bill Paxton’s three wives on HBO’s “Big Love,” is set to receive the MaxMara “Face of the Future” Award. She has also appeared as Johnny Cash’s first wife in “Walk the Line” and will be seen in October in the ensemble comedy, “He’s Just Not That Into You,” based on the best-seller by Greg Behrendt.

Her credits also include the features “Mona Lisa Smile,” “Win a Date With Tad Hamilton,” “Day Zero” and “Birds of America.”

Lansing, who broke down barriers for women execs in Hollywood at Columbia Pictures, 20th Century Fox and Paramount, where she served as chairman of the motion picture group from 1992-2005, will be recognized with the Paltrow Mentorship Award, presented to a woman whose career and life exemplify the definition of mentorship.

She now heads the Sherry Lansing Foundation — its philanthropic work includes raising awareness and funds for cancer research. She’s a regent of the University of California and a member of California’s Independent Citizens Oversight Committee, which governs stem-cell research. She also sits on the boards of the Carter Center, DonorsChoose, Qualcomm, Teach for America, the American Association for Cancer Research and Friends for Cancer Research.

Calm Down Prods.’ Lucy Webb will return as exec producer of the 2008 awards, and past WIF president Iris Grossman will again chair the event.

Salma Hayek Wanted A Boy

Salma Hayek Wanted A Boy

The news that actress Salma Hayek wanted a boy instead of a girl is over a week old, and thus not especially relevant to much of anything anymore. The news that Salma Hayek has ridonkulously humungolicious Guadala-Ton-Tons (editor’s note: NSFW ) is always relevant, however.

In fact, we were so moved by Hayek’s photos that we just sent $1,000 to the National Sweater Monkey Liberation Society.

After all, huddled masses yearning to breathe free is what America is all about … well, until we build a border fence to keep out people who look like Hayek, anyway.

We think that’s lousy public policy, people … but we guess Republicans do need something to run on this year.

Everybody is talking about the amazing birth of Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s twins.  Even the celebrity world is abuzz with congratulations.  And Salma Hayek is beaming for the new parents.

A new mommy herself, Hayek publicly sent her best wishes to the new parents, telling press, “I wish them the best.  They will do great.”

Early this morning, the “Waiting for Tonight” singer gave birth to a boy and a girl in Long Island, New York.  And according to their rep, things are going very well.

Anna Wintour Outbid by Salma Hayek for David Beckham Private Lesson

Salma Hayek outbid Anna Wintour to bag a private coaching session with David Beckham for $350,000 at the Madonna and Gucci Malawi Benefit on Wednesday.

The actress knocked the ice queen Editor in Chief of Vogue out of the running to secure the priceless prize at the VIP charity auction.

Other winners included a Japanese businessman who bid $600,000 for four tickets to a Madonna concert and Uma Thurman’s boyfriend Arky Busson who bid $60,000 for the opportunity to name a Gucci bag.
Madge’s daughter, Lourdes, 11, narrowly missed out on tickets to American Idol and a batch of first-edition Harry Potter books, which sold for $95,000.

Chris Rock hosted the auction and entertained the star-studded audience with his near-the -knuckle humour: “Under your table is a Malawi kid you can take home,” teased Rock

Celebrities including Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Jennifer Lopez and Drew Barrymore paid $2,500 to $10,000 each to dine on grappa-cured salmon, wild striped bass, tart of goat cheese, foraged mushrooms, truffled mashed potatoes and sticky toffee pudding with creme fraiche.

After dinner Madonna played videos of Malawi and introduced children from the southern African country before Rihanna, Timbaland and Alicia Keys performed live.

As they left guests were all given goody bags which were held in an actual Gucci bag.

Salma Hayek: Out in NYC

Salma Hayek: Out in NYC

There’s a lot going on in the Big Apple these days, and new mother Salma Hayek and her fiancé Francois-Henri Pinault are making sure they’re not left out.

The happy pair was spotted out and about in New York City yesterday looking so happy together.  Both the “Desperado” actress and her French beau were all bundled up to chase away the winter chill.

And it sounds like Salma may be thinking about a career change.  She recently bid $350,000 for a private coaching session with David Beckham as part of Madonna’s Raising Malawi/Unicef benefit.

But something tells us she looks better on the silver screen than she’d ever look on the pitch.

Hayek Furious About Paparazzi Stand-Off

Salma Hayek flew into a rage in New York on Tuesday morning after she spotted a photographer trying to take close-ups of her baby daughter.

The protective mom lashed out at the paparazzo as she left her hotel on Fifth Avenue with four-month-old Valentina Paloma.

Hayek screamed at the snapper to stay away and then attempted to shield her baby from the flashbulbs.

Ana Ortiz: Blame Salma If I Get Pregnant

Ana Ortiz is spending her time off from filming Ugly Betty enjoying being a newlywed (”It’s been nice to have some time to spend together,” she says), but she’s blaming her producer Salma Hayek if she gets pregnant any time soon.

“I saw her right before she gave birth and she pointed at me and [said], ‘You’re next!’,” Ortiz told PEOPLE, at Wilmer Valderrama’s Don Julio Tequila-sponsored birthday party at Stanton Social in New York City Thursday. “I thought, ‘Oh my god, did I just get pregnant? I think Salma just got me pregnant!’ ”

Ortiz continued, saying that in actuality, she and her husband, musician Noah Lebenzon, are seriously considering expanding their new family. “We’re definitely talking about it,” she said, smiling. “It’s definitely in their air.”

In the meantime, Ortiz says she’s enjoying “nesting,” and hanging out with her Ugly Betty costars. “[America's] boyfriend likes to host a little poker party with my husband,” she said. “It started as a boy’s night….It infuriated America. She was like, ‘We are absolutely playing poker!’ I don’t really want to play, so we’ll see!”
