Keira Knightley’s £2m love nest

Keira Knightley's £2m love nest

Keira Knightley and her actor boyfriend Rupert Friend are buying a £2 million love nest together.

The ‘Atonement’ beauty hopes committing to buying a house will help cement their relationship, after their busy schedules have kept them apart recently.

Keira is also said to be worried about Rupert’s budding friendship with his ‘Buddha’s Little Finger’ co-star Sophia Myles.

A friend said: “They have been arguing about Rupert’s workload and how little time they spend together. Keira was quite concerned they were drifting apart and was also worried he was getting a bit too close to Sophia.

“So she flew to the set in Germany and they sorted things out. It was then that they decided to buy a house together and they are going to put in £1 million each.”

The couple - who met on the set of ‘Pride and Prejudice’ in 2004 - have reportedly decided to start looking in London’s popular Notting Hill area.

Keira, who is currently living with her brother in Hyde Park, is so determined to make the relationship work she has put her film career on hold.

The pal added to Britain’s Mail on Sunday newspaper: “Keira has turned down all scripts for the time being so she can spend more time with Rupert.

“The problem is he has been doing back-to-back projects for six months.”

Keira Knightley: An actress with panache!

Keira Knightley: An actress with panache!

Sushmita Dutta

She was destined to be an actress as it was in her blood. An actor father and a playwright mother meant that Hollywood was ever eager to absorb the talent of this striking screen goddess.

Keira Christina Knightley was born on 26th March 1985 to actor Will Knightley and actress turned playwright Sharman MacDonald. Growing up in the backyard of such fine creative people meant that she grew up with big aspirations and got all the necessary education on acting at home itself. It is no wonder then that at the tender age of 3 she had asked for her own agent and got it by the time she turned 6.

However, her parents still had a few tricks up their sleeves. As part of the deal, Keira, who is dyslexic, had to study through the school holidays and she was only permitted to work on productions if they didn’t interfere with her education. Her acting skills were regularly honed as she grew up morphing into waif like beauty. The heady mix of beauty with extra-ordinary acting skills was waiting for world抯 attention. And soon under thousands flashbulbs she shone radiantly.

At the tender age of 7, Keira took her babysteps in acting. Her first stint with the camera was in 1993 for a TV show 揝creen One: Royal Celebration?and got her first multi-scene performance in A Village Affair (1995). Later she was limited to tid and bits in other shows.

Keira抯 name to fame was at the age of 14 when she played Natalie Portman抯 decoy Padme in Star wars: Episode-I-The Phantom Menace (1999).

But her big break came in 2001, when she was cast in the summer blockbuster 態end It Like Beckham.?Despite being pitted against British sitcom star Parminder Nagra, she was noticed for her strong body language, witty performance and screen presence.

There was no looking back after the bend. Keira became serious about her roles and her studies, which enabled her to show that she was not only beautiful but also a thinking actress. She stepped into Julie Christie’s shoes for the controversial remake of the classic ‘Dr. Zhivago’, played Louise in ‘Pure’, and filmed ‘Love, Actually’ alongside Liam Neeson and Hugh Grant.

A movie filmed after 慙ove Actually?but released before it gained her much acclaim not only as an actor but a stunner despite the anorexic frame. Pirates of the Caribbean sequels in which Keira played the female lead was a movie that came by sheer luck. The auditions were going on in London for 慞irates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)? and not only was Keira late but was at the end of auditions list. Yet she somehow managed to bag the role in her kitty. The movie went on to become a blockbuster and catapulted the damsel with angelic face Brit into the big league of stars.

Keira went ahead with the other two sequels of Pirates of the Caribbean ?Dead Man抯 Chest (2006) and At World抯 End (2007). Although they could not match up with the profit made by the first one, they were anticipatory enough. Audience savoured each moment of the foul wine, sword-buckling pirate Elizabeth Swann played to perfection by the talented actress who was able to hold her own with the likes of Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom.

The bony actress has been in middle of many a tart barb accusing her of promoting anorexia among teens to which she retaliated by saying that she does not have any eating disorder but thinness is in her genes.

In 慘ing Arthur?(2004), Keira played a sword-swinging Celtic warrior. The movie did not fare well at the box office but got due attention after it was discovered that Keira抯 bust in the promos had been enhanced by using special effects.

Stardom is fame but an Oscar does much to an actor抯 career graph and market demand. Keira抯 proud moment came with first Oscar nomination for Best Actress for 慞ride and Prejudice?(2006). Although she failed to win nonetheless people sat up and took notice of her stunning performance as headstrong Elizabeth Bennett.

With Atonement and Silk and the last of Pirate sequel (At World抯 End), 2007 had been hectic for the actress who is also known for cheeks women would die for. She was much appreciated for her role in Atonement. She was also nominated in Best Actress category at BAFTA.

Her 2008 releases include 慣he Edge of Love?in which she has already recorded three songs and 慣he Duchess?

Loyalty and regality is something that has been associated with Keira since she came into light. Not known or starry tantrums, Keira has been elegant yet comfy in her mannerisms that show in her dressing sense too.

On the personal front, Keira has had three relationships. She met actor Del Synnott while working together on 慞rincess of Thieves?(2001) and split in November 2003 citing Soon after her relationship with Irish model Jamie Dornan began in August 2003 and ended exactly after 2 years on the same month. Her current beau is Rupert Friend. The cute pair fell in love while shooting for 慞ride & Prejudice?(2005) and they have been together since then.

Being a dyslexic, skinny Keira defied all odds and has risen to become one of present generations most talented, sexy and beautiful actress. Critics called her 慳 face to watch out?for she is set to conquer the reel with her magnetism. Her steady climb towards stardom proves that if you have it in you, the world will take notice at one point of time.

Keira Knightley To Sing

Keira Knightley To Sing

Keira’s set to use her vocal talents on a new soundtrack but is a pop career ahead?

Keira Knightley has recorded three songs for her new film The Edge Of Love.

It’s the first time the British actress has used her singing voice for a movie soundtrack- she’s previously admitted it’s not her strong point.

Keira said: “I can’t really sing I had to have a few lessons, but once I started doing it, a sound emerged that wasn’t too disagreeable.”

The Edge Of Love is written by Knightley’s mother and is the story of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas. It also stars Sienna Miller and Cillian Murphy.

The movie is set for release in Autumn 2008. It looks unlikely Keira will launch a pop career alongside her film work- though we would love to see it!

The actor will play a ‘playboy’ pharaoh in Christopher Miles’ Film, Knightley may star in it
Chistopher Miles, best known for his biopic The Priest Of Love on DH Lawrence, is currently in Mumbai for the casting of his next biopic. Miles’ The Last Pharaoh is based on the life of the last Egyptian pharaoh, King Farouk, whose colourful and controversial lifestyle made him the brunt of innumerable barbs and arched eyebrows.

Miles has decided to cast a Bollywood actor as Cairo’s cool casanova. The 25-year old Ruslaan Mumtaz has bagged the dream role.

Catching up

Hours after the deal was finalised Ruslaan says, “I had never even dreamt of getting the role. The cinematographer of my first film Amitabha Singh, is the chief-assistant DoP for Christopher’s project, and he showed my pictures to the director.

He was immediately stuck by my physical resemblance to King Farouk.

He saw my debut film Mera Pehla Pehla Pyar and made up his mind. When he flew down to Mumbai to meet me this weekend, I couldn’t believe it was all happening.”

The film chronicles Faroukh’s playboy-ish life-style and his relationship with a British girl, to be possibly played by Keira Knightley, although the film revolves around Ruslaan’s character.

“King Farouk died young at 45 because of his hedonistic lifestyle. The Last Pharaoh will go back to his life at 23. I’m catching up on visual and printed material on Farouk. He was quite a cool cat. He loved ladies and fast cars. So do I! And he’d acquire both in every shape and size. I’d love to do the same,” Ruslaan chuckles.

Mouche ado

Miles wanted one final audition with Ruslaan in a moustache before clinching the deal. “The mouche is easy to grow. Now the real hard work begins,” exults the young actor. “I’ve been given video tapes on King Farouk to study his body language and facial expressions.

I must say I do resemble him quite a lot. But he was bulky, in fact fat. I’ve gone the other way recently and lost lots of weight. Now I’ve been ordered to put on weight. So I’ve to start binging. I can’t get any luckier. I get a role any Indian actor would kill for, and I get to flirt with flab.”

Ruslaan can’t believe what’s happening to him. “After my debut, I just didn’t know what to do next. I guess I’ve ‘Miles’ to go.”

See Keira’s Talents

See Keira's Talents

February 26, 2008 - If you’re like us, you just can’t get enough of Keira Knightley and her sexiliciousness. Now, you can see more of Ms. Knightley on DVD in Silk, which releases today from New Line Home Entertainment. And there’s a new information on the forthcoming release of her Oscar-nominated film, Atonement.

Atonement, which arrives on DVD March 18, courtesy of Universal Studios Home Entertainment, tells what happens when a young girl catches her sister in a passionate embrace with a childhood friend, her jealousy drives her to tell a lie that will irrevocably change the course of all their lives forever. Knightley stars in the film with James “Mr. Tumnus” McAvoy.

The DVD will include deleted scenes, a commentary from director Joe Wright, and two featurettes: Bringing the Past to Life: The Making of Atonement; and From Novel to Screen: Adapting a Classic. It will be presented in anamorphic widescreen 1.85.1, and will have Dolby Digital 5.1 sound.

If you can’t wait until March for your Keira fix, Silk is out today. Based on the best-selling novel by Alessandro Baricco, Silk is billed as a lush, strikingly beautiful epic spanning two continents. Herve Joncour’s (Michael Pitt) devotion to his beautiful bride (Knightley) is tested increasingly by dangerous trade missions during which he must search for silkworms that allow for his town’s economic survival. From his journeys to Japan, Herve brings great wealth for his village, but, with each return to the Far East, he becomes torn by the temptation of a local warlord’s sensuous concubine and his love for his wife.

All that sounds fine and good, but we know what you’re thinking… and, yes, the movie does feature a couple of scenes in which the lovely young actress displays her… um… talents.

Piers Morgan launches scathing attack on Keira Knightley

Piers Morgan launches scathing attack on Keira Knightley

Celebrity Apprentice contestant and America’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan has launched a scathing attack at ‘irritating’ Keira Knightley. The former tabloid editor, 42, said: “She moans about being famous and then does endless photo sessions. You can’t use the media to promote yourself and then attack them! My message to Keira is: ‘If you’d like me to get off your case, stop bleating!’ Most people would change their lives in a flash to have a tenth of what people like her have. Being famous is brilliant.”

Since being fired as the editor of Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper in 2004, Piers has landed himself a string of lucrative TV spots - which have  turned him into a household name. He admits: “I get recognized [in England] and in the States all the time now. I’m equally famous in each, but people are nicer to me in America.

“I cop a bit of abuse in the UK for being obnoxious, but they’re much more polite [in America].”

Having devoted his life to becoming a ‘celebrity’, Piers brags that he’s richer than ever and receives endless freebies, “I had a great Pretty Woman moment recently when the wardrobe girls from America’s Got Talent took me shopping on Rodeo Drive in Beverley Hills,” he tells Britain’s Closer magazine. “We spent $12,000 in just over an hour. We did Armani, Hugo Boss and Dolce & Gabbana. Who wouldn’t want to be famous when that kind of thing happens?”

Knightley’s Australian misadventure

KEIRA Knightley believes some Aborigines are right when it comes to photographs but she has obviously never seen Crocodile Dundee .

The British actress revealed she hates having her photograph taken, saying she agrees with “Australian Aborigines” who think it takes away the soul.

The common tourist’s assumption all Aborigines hold such beliefs is famously ridiculed in Crocodile Dundee when David Gulpilil’s character Neville tells Linda Kozlowski she cannot take his photograph.

Asked if it is because it will take his spirit away, Gulpilil deadpans: “No, you’ve got the lens cap on”.

Knightley seems destined to make the same mistake if she ever finds herself visiting Australia in similar circumstances, because most modern Aborigines do not observe such taboos, which are more common to the indigenous cultures of Africa.

Indigenous art curator Djon Mundine, who recently staged an exhibition of photographs of Aboriginal men at Campbelltown Arts Centre, said some deeply traditional communities still felt uncomfortable being photographed.

However, most Aborigines were happy to be snapped, as long as the photographer asked permission.

While there remained a strong reluctance to display photographs of the dead, or important sacred sites, a prohibition on cameras in some Aboriginal communities had more to do with preserving privacy.

“Otherwise you have huge groups of tourists photographing people all the time,” Mr Mundine said.

“Even in general photography you should ask permission – it’s just good manners.”

Knightley told Britain’s Daily Express newspaper she felt like imposing her own taboo.

“I’m not comfortable having to be myself or being photographed as myself,” Knightley said.

“Australian Aborigines say that with every photograph that is taken, a piece of your soul goes with it.

“And there are some days when I kind of believe that.”

Keira’s red carpet persona

Keira's red carpet persona

Keira Knightley has apparently revealed she pretends to be somebody else when posing on the red carpet.

It seems the Atonement star doesn’t like being snapped and has taken note of the Aboriginal belief that a photograph takes away a part of your soul - so she graces red carpet events in character, reports The Daily Express.

The 22-year-old is quoted as saying: “I’m not comfortable having to be myself, or being photographed as myself.

“Australian Aborigines say, with every photograph that is taken, a piece of your soul goes with it. And there are some days when I kind of believe that.”

The actress added: “For the Oscars last year I was an elegant Edwardian society woman from a painting by John Singer Sargent. For the Venice Film Festival, I was Sophia Loren. For the premiere of Atonement, I was someone else again, but I won’t say who, as it’s embarrassing. It’s my way of getting through.”

The 22-year-old actress said that she is not comfortable being photographed. “I’m not comfortable having to be myself, or being photographed as myself,” Daily Express quoted her as saying.

The secret behind Keira’s busts

The secret behind Keira's busts

Melbourne (ANI): Famously flat-chested star Keira Knightley has revealed the secret behind her fuller bust-line in Pirates Of The Caribbean. The British actress confessed that her big chest in the movie owes its size to make-up. The thin-framed beauty came into limelight with blockbuster Pirates Of The Caribbean with her breasts spilling over the tight corset she wore in the film.

However, it was all an illusion, which was made to look real by the film-studio art of “bosom make-up”. This old-age skill of Hollywood went into oblivion with the a. “They painted my t**s on me for the films, which is extraordinary because it’s kind of a dying art form - in the past, they used to have whole sections of the studios devoted to bosom make-up. And I loved it, completely loved it. Because it was the first time in my life I had big t**s, and I didn’t even need surgery,” The Daily Telegraph quoted Keira, as saying.
She revealed that it used to take the make-up artists almost 45-minutes every morning to create that eye-grabbing cleavage for the actress, before she started filming. The chest make-up required the artist to apply a slightly darker shade of base make-up between Knightley’s own breasts to create a shadow to increase the ‘cleavage effect’.

Keira had her assets digitally enhanced in movie posters for her 2004 film King Arthur. While in British versions she appeared in her natural state, in posters for the US they had grown to a C-cup size, leading to a hullaboo among cinema-goers.
