Alyssa Milano: Today’s HD Hottie

Alyssa Milano: Today's HD Hottie

Washington, D.C. (May 15, 2008) — Following our extremely popular contest, ‘HD Hottie Hysteria,’ we’ve started a new feature in which we will highlight a top female star every day. The gorgeous female will come from a program that can be seen in gorgeous high-def that very day.

Today’s ‘HD Hottie’ is Alyssa Milano, who stars tonight in high-def in My Name Is Earl on NBC at 8 p.m. ET.

The 35-year-old actress, who was born in New York City, started acting as a child and got her first big break at the age of 11 in the ABC sitcom, Who’s the Boss?

But Milano has enjoyed success as an adult as well with starring turns in Charmed, Melrose Place and Spin City. She now plays Jason Lee’s girlfriend in My Name Is Earl and she reportedly is in negotiations with ABC for her own sitcom.

ABC In Talks With Fillion And Milano For New Pilots

With the big network upfronts headed this way, we should expect to hear some pilot news over the next couple of weeks. This includes casting rumors. The latest news is that Nathan Fillion and Alyssa Milano are both in negotiations for new ABC pilots.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Milano is up for the starring role in a new Kristin Newman comedy. Newman’s resume includes writing and producing for That 70’s Show and How I Met Your Mother. Her new series, which is currently untitled, will center on a thirtysomething woman who wants to get away from her dysfunctional family.

Meanwhile, Nathan Fillion, who is currently playing a recurring role on ABC’s Desperate Housewives is up for the lead in a new dramedy called Castle. It’s a “comedic procedural” about a mystery novelist who helps the NYPD solve crimes. While Fillion has plenty of fans, he doesn’t exactly have the best track record with pilots. Fillion starred in the one-season Joss Whedon series, Firefly as well as last year’s cancelled Fox show, Drive. Let’s just hope he has better luck with Castle.

Milano’s the boss in enjoyable “Wisegal” movie

Milano's the boss in enjoyable

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - It’s not exactly breaking news that Alyssa Milano is all grown up now and bears little resemblance to the young girl who played Tony Danza’s daughter for eight seasons on the ABC comedy “Who’s the Boss?”

But rarely has the 35-year-old actress appeared as, well, hot as she does in “Wisegal.” Yes, it’s a Lifetime project, which usually means two hours of predictable angst for a central female character who overcomes all kinds of adversity to save womanhood itself.

But this mob drama isn’t like that. It also offers genuinely solid performances, headed by Milano as a butt-kicking heroine (and one of the producers) along with effective work from bad-dude supreme Jason Gedrick and the ageless James Caan.

Said to be inspired by a true story — perhaps in the same way that reality TV shows are inspired by reality — “Wisegal” nonetheless boasts a solid production pedigree to explain its surprising quality. Its executive producers include Joe Pistone, the former real-life FBI agent whose infiltration of the Mafia led to the 1997 Johnny Depp-Al Pacino feature “Donnie Brasco.” Not that this has much in common with “Donnie.” But the attempt to elevate the film above simple mob caricature is at least clear.

Milano capably carries the film on her petite shoulders as Patty Montanari, a tough Brooklyn broad who is left a widowed mother of two young sons when her husband dies of cancer. She now has to provide for them with no skills to speak of and as a result immediately gets roped into selling contraband cigarettes for small-time mobsters. Fortunately (or not), she captures the wandering eye of the hunky, charming but sinister organized crime captain Frank Russo (Gedrick), who sees in Patty a nice potential arrangement: He gives her a business to run, and she eventually falls in love with his married, philandering self. Just when it looks to be going according to plan, family boss Salvatore Palmeri (Caan) sidles up to Patty and says really gently, “I want you to transport bundles of cash over the Canadian border on a regular basis, and if you do it well I won’t kill you.” Actually, he doesn’t say exactly that, but everyone catches his drift anyway.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out this is all going to end really, really badly. But getting there packs an unanticipated dramatic punch that doesn’t fully unravel until the final act, when all sense of believability and balance pretty much evaporates.

Jennifer Aniston ‘Secret Admirer’ and Alyssa Milano

Jennifer Aniston 'Secret Admirer' and Alyssa Milano

So someone is really into Jennifer Aniston and is so sweet on the California beauty that he is leaving her beautiful flowers on her doorstep to make certain he gets noticed.  When the report first hit it sounded quite romantic but at the end of the short item it was claimed that Jen has been recently linked with Kevin Connolly.
That always seemed like a stretch (and no that is not a short joke) but still for some reason Connolly’s name always pops into the Jennifer dating world even though I’m almost certain they have never been spotted together.  But Kevin was sighted recently with another sweet Hollywood actress.
According to Star Magazine Alyssa Milano has traded baseball players for a Hollywood player.  The former Charmed star, 35, spent the night wooing Entourage’s Kevin Connolly at the Playboy Super Saturday Night Party in Phoenix during Super Bowl week.  “Alyssa didn’t play coy - she hung around Kevin and his buddies and waited for an opportunity to talk to him one-on-one,” says an eyewitness.

And when he went up to DJ, Alyssa grabbed her chance.  By the end of the night, the 33-year-old actor and Alyssa were “inseparable, holding hands as they walked around the party.”  The two left together in his waiting limo.  Whatever Kevin is doing he should keep it up, being linked to Jen and Alyssa is quite the feat.

National Lampoon Sports Minute (Or So) on Alyssa Milano, Steriods, Michael Vick, NFL, NBA and More

A judge ruled that jailed Michael Vick can keep nearly $20 million in bonus money he received from the Atlanta Falcons. Vick was relieved, as he’s got a really big dogfight coming up.

Chad Johnson is very upset at the Bengals, making him a true Cincinnati resident.

NHL player Nik Antropov was suspended for 3 games for throwing his stick at officials. Fortunately the stick landed in the stands, where there was no one to injure.

Alyssa Milano has begun to blog for the NHL. Because she ran out of baseball players.

World ice-dancing champion Maxim Staviski has received a 2 1/2-year prison sentence for a drunken driving accident. A guy in a spandex unitard in prison. Nothing could go wrong there.

Former Olympic canoeing champion Frantisek Capek has died of an unspecified heart problem at the age of 93. Doctors could have saved him if they hadn’t tragically reached for the wrong paddles.

Ballers Latrell Sprewell and Glen Rice have both had assault charges against them dropped. Maybe Johnnie Cochrane isn’t dead after all.

The Toronto Raptors tied a franchise record with a 39-point victory. Shockingly, it was not against the Knicks.

Bob Knight officially resigned, having finally thrown his last chair.

And Chuck Knoblauch said his involvement in the steroid investigation, has been blown way out of proportion. Like Roger Clemens’ head.

My Name is Earl: Bad Earl

“There’s no room at the motel and it’s Christmas eve. Just like Jesus’ baby.” — Randy Hickey

I don’t know about you but I really have a problem watching holiday episodes after New Years. I guess, like many people, I have just had enough “holiday cheer” and when I see those references, I feel like I’m watching an old episode. Maybe I should just be happy that there are new episodes at all.

As I’ve said before, I always love to see recurring characters. Seeing Ralph and gay Kenny actually crossing paths was one of the high points of this episode.

This episode answered a lot of questions for me. The biggest being, “Is everyone in Camden County a complete idiot?” Clearly, the answer is yes. More importantly, it seems that idiots migrate to the area. Case in point, Tim Stack. Once a Hollywood TV personality, now a drunken wash out living in Camden County. It’s the only place that a mental deficient like Ralph can actually outsmart someone.

Personally, I think it’s about time Earl gave up on the list. It’s clear that he is no longer karma’s bitch and the line between making up for something bad you’ve done and humiliating yourself isn’t really all that fine. It seems that it’s time for the list to be shelved along with Kip & Henry’s dresses and The A-Team’s wanted status.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying Earl shouldn’t try to be a good person. He just doesn’t need the list anymore. There are plenty of ways he can assuage his guilt and still live a normal life. Watch Joy’s kids, feed Mr. Turtle, help Catalina become a citizen; in addition to getting a decent job and being a functioning member of society, any of these are worthy goals for a fulfilling life.

I really would have liked to see more of Alyssa Milano in this episode, and when she bent over Earl in the street, I wanted to see A LOT more. My hilarious chauvinism aside, adding Milano to the cast is a stroke of genius. Now Earl can live a more normal life with a girlfriend who is trying to achieve similar goals. Together, they can strive to be better people and make the world a better place. Of course, along the way, their white trash leanings will offer a few rough patches but that’s to be expected.

Overall, I thought this episode was a little light on laughs but you have to expect that with a transitional story such as this one. If nothing else, I am excited to see Alyssa Milano back in a sitcom again. Maybe if we’re lucky, her father, Tony. will stop in for a visit.
